Howard & Co, Boston, Series V with Cole's resilient escapement and unusual "wag" hand on dial demonstrating escapement action, L-S (just over 15S), 14K gold (tested) original WmBW&Co HC with eagle hallmark, gold cuvette, bow with chain guards, white enamel SS dial with "wag" hand at 7:30 driven by mvt lever, KWKS, gilt mvt, s#50203. Gross weight of assembled watch 72.2 dwt (112.3 g). A very unusual and intriquing piece with its Cole's resilient escapement and unusual extra dial hand, this example makes the third E. Howard & Co. dial we have seen with this similar additional hand placement at the 7:30 position demonstrating escapement action. CONDITION: Mvt: GRO...
CONDITION: Mvt: GRO, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, gilt plates with uneven tone and some ultra-fine scratch striations likely caused by wiping, spot near third wheel jewel; dial is flawless in visible portion; near mint hands; case shows ample wear, two dents just right of center rear, small dent at right edge of rear, no engine turning detail remaining; tight bow, replacement push shows little wear; good glass crystal.
